Simply Pie by Gail Ang

November 23, 2011

When I first tasted Simply Pie’s mini quiches during the Best Food Forward Summer Food Fair early this year, I was smitten by it.  During Lori Baltazar’s Dessert Comes First 6th year anniversary, I yielded into the cute mini quiches that shyly beckon in one corner, yearning to be savored again.  By the time that I am already frequenting Mercato Centrale and other food fairs, I let myself be swayed by the wave of gastronomical urge to be captured by these little yet delectably enticing creations of home baker, Gail Ang.

Simply Pie may be cleverly named through play of words, but its pies and quiches are anything but simple.  Crafted through combination of passion, God-given talent, and the best ingredients available, Simply Pie is one of those that I can highly recommend for foodies and non-foodies alike who are in search of great tasting quiche and pies.

Spinach, Feta and Sundried Tomatoes Mini Quiche is a trinity of ingredients lavishly gracing the egg custard inside the puff pastry shell. Each yields its own distinct flavor, strong enough to let its presence be known, and mild enough to harmonize with each other.

The earthy and meaty flavor of the button and Shitake mushroom that blends perfectly well with the sour cream and the creamy egg custard makes every bite of Mini Mushroom and Sour Cream Quiche a savory experience of pleasure on earth that reverberates in heaven.

Combination of Tyrolian Bacon, Parmesan, and Gruyere cheese, Simply Pie’s Mini Quiche Lorraine is the classic of the quiches. Its taste is very straightforward but it echoes a beautiful melancholy, of memories treasured instead of forgotten.

While these three flavors have gathered raves and thumbs up from different foodies, Gail doesn’t stop creating and experimenting with flavors that will create yet another quiches that echoes perfection.  For this season, she recently introduced two new flavors for her mini quiches; The Smoked Fish, Tomato, and Capers Mini Quiche and Garlic Shrimp Mini Quiche.

Simply Pie prided itself with its mini quiche but its mini savory and sweet puff pies are equally worthy of raves.  What sets these mini pies from the other? It is simply the sauciest pies in the city! All baked in hand rolled flaky pie shell topped with puff pastry, each filling screams of good quality ingredients to create mini pies that are big in flavors.

It’s not as if the good news of having two new flavors for the mini quiches is not enough, Simply Pie is now selling Frozen Mini Quiches Packs which includes all five flavors for everyone to enjoy anytime of the day.  Also, since most of us are now preparing for the season of gift giving, Simply Pie is currently having 10 boxes plus one promo.  If you place your Christmas orders between Nov. 17, 2011 to Dec. 15, 2011 you’ll get free one box of mini quiches for every 10 boxes you ordered.  You can check out Simply Pie’s Facebook Page for more details.

I have always been in love with quiches, but sadly, there are not many restaurants nor cafes that offer quiches worth raving about, at least in my book.  Same goes with savory pies.  While I’ve always been in love with savory pies by Tina’s Pie Outlet, I am equally delighted with Simply Pie as well, since these two have totally different approach in making their delectable pies.  I guess that’s what Gail means when she decided to name her home-baking business Simply Pie.  Getting the best mini pies and mini quiches in town, simplified.

And of course, her Spinach, Feta and Sun Dried Tomatoes quiche will always be my favorite!! I have to try the rest that you featured here too. :D
