When Magnum Ice Cream took Philippine market by storm, it created quite a stir especially in Facebook, Twitter, and other forms of social media. Noted as the premium ice cream brand in the Philippines, even those who are not really fond of eating ice cream were enticed to try it. Some says it's over-priced while the others believed that it is well worth the Php50+ bucks you will be spending. Personally, haters gonna hate, but I have deep affinity for Belgian chocolate so yes, I am a fan.
This Selecta's gourmet ice cream coated with Belgian chocolate is available in different flavors; Magnum Classic, Magnum Almond, Magnum Chocolate Truffle, Magnum Choco Cappuccino, and the recently introduced 2 new Magnum flavors, Magnum Chocolate & Strawberry and Chocolate Brownie.
These two new flavors of Magnum, Chocolate & Strawberry and Chocolate Brownie were unveiled last month together with its new brand ambassador, Georgina Wilson, popular model, video jock, and TV host. I was sick during its launch but I would not let an opportunity pass to share with you my take on these two new Magnum flavors.
Magnum Chocolate & Strawberry
Magnum Chocolate & Strawberry flavor is covered with fine Belgian chocolate that is thick enough to house the ice cream inside but decent enough to create the pleasurable cracks when you bite on it.
Inside you'll be greeted with rich and creamy vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce peeking from time to time in every bite. I love how the strawberry flavor does not overpower the entire deal like what a usual strawberry flavored ice cream possessed. It has just the right amount of flavor that the creaminess of the vanilla and the distinct taste of the Belgian chocolate still shine through.
Magnum Chocolate Brownie
Chocolate Brownie on the other hand is covered with the same thick crackling Belgian Chocolate and studded with bits of cashew nuts. I love the play on texture brought about by the cashew bits. Your palate will be teased with the rich flavor of chocolate until only to be interrupted with the funky bite on the nuts, it's pure pleasure.
Inside, the chocolate coating houses a chocolate brownie flavored ice cream. While the texture of the coating is deem upbeat, the rich chocolate ice cream inside suggests serenity, a peaceful balance of beauty in your palate.
I have always been in love with Magnum's Almond flavor, but between the two new flavors, my palate favored the Chocolate Brownie more. I am not saying that the strawberry variant is not as pleasurable, I am just not into something fruity when it comes to my ice cream. But I wouldn't mind indulging in to both of these new babies of Selecta Magnum Ice Cream if only to experience the same pleasure that only Magnum can bring.
