Madison Commons Food Park, Kapitolyo

July 09, 2017
Food parks in Metro Manila are sprouting left and right these days and the recent one I have visited was Madison Commons Food Park located in Kapitolyo Pasig City near Pioneer. Pasig City, specifically Kapitolyo area is known as one of the food-lovers destinations here in Manila as it boasts of wide variety of restaurants that offers wide range of cuisine. Madison Commons Food Park is a welcome addition as it fits perfectly well with the gastronomical vibe of the area.

This is the first food park that I am blogging about but I have to admit that I am one of those who appreciate the existence of these food parks everywhere as it is a good way to try out different food in one go.

I have visited few food parks and Madison Commons in Kapitolyo is one of those which food vendors and selections I found satisfying.  There are few things which were a turn-off like the irritating flies everywhere, but the good food and some friendly vendors make up for it.

I could easily call tag this blog post with a title “Food to Try at Madison Commons Food Park in Kapitolyo” but truth is, there are only quite a few food stalls there which food I have tried. I visited Madison Commons around 5pm on a weekday since I want to check them out while the park isn’t too crowded yet. Unfortunately, while the food park advertise that they are open from 4pm to 3am, most of the stalls are not yet open by 5pm.

Good thing that some of those which I really wanted to try were already open.

First food stall we tried was the Yeongyang Hansik which offers Korean cuisine with a reasonable prize. I love Korean food. I cook it at home and it is most of the time a priority when eating out. Yeongyang may not be the best one I have tried out there but I find it good enough to satisfy Korean food cravings. I also appreciate that the Ahjumma manning the store was super friendly.

I would have wanted to try their Samgyupsal but it was a humid afternoon so I have zero interest in grilling. The Samgyetang was also enticing but hot soup on a hot day isn’t really my cup of tea. So, I settled for Beef Bibimbap (Php149.00) because the Lechon bibimbap was not available. I also tried their Dosirak (Php99.00) which would have been cooler if it was served on a lunchbox tin can Korean style.  Both were good enough for its price. I don’t mind going back again.

We also tried the Pipa House of Fried Pizza and Pasta. What lures me into trying out this pizza stall was the cool and funny names they use for their pizza varieties. For instance, they call their thin crust pizza JusThin Bieber Pizza while it was Amanda SeyFried for their fried pizza variants. Their pasta selections, they call it Pasta Rhymes.

I love puns, I find things like this funny. Who can blame me though. Their Spaghetti Bolognese, they call it MeatChelle Obama, the Beefy Lasagna was named KoBeef Bryant, and the Aligue Pasta was called Muhammad AliGue. That’s just naming a few. They call their All Cheese Pizza, CheeseTina Aguillera, the Pepperoni was Katy PeppeRoni, and the Hawaiian Pizza was called PineApL.De.Ap. Freaking hilarious.

We tried the All Meat Pizza called Will SMeat (Php149.00) and the Supreme Pizza called Many Pacquiao (Php149.00). We love both. The crust was more like taco shells than the usual but I am not complaining because I love the crisp texture and it made the flavor of the toppings shine even more.

We also tried the Tuna Poke (Php220.00) at Ohana and threw in some side dishes as well like Macaroni (Php35.00) and Coleslaw (Php35.00). I find everything really good and had I not need to try other food within the park, I would have probably try out more dishes at Ohana.  I also appreciate the very accommodating and kind food attendants at this stall.

I was craving for some really nice shawarma so we also tried Persiana. We got their Beef Shawarma (Php75.00) and Chicken Shawarma (Php75.00) Which despite its miniature size I find satisfying in terms of flavor. We also got their Fried Cheese with Pita (Php125.00) which was also light yet satisfying. Persiana have their own enclosed area in front of the food park which I believe is the only airconditioned space within the property. You cannot however bring food inside from other stalls.

Lastly, I also tried the Nitro Cold Brew Coffee. I got their Hazelnut Caramel Mocha (Php135.00) which I find good but a bit cloying in its sweetness. Next time I would just stick with their very basic Black Nitro since I heard from a friend that it is good compared to the flavored ones.

As I have mentioned, there are still plenty of food stalls I want to visit at Madison Commons Food Park which I haven’t tried yet. However, those which I have tried were all good and I wouldn’t mind revisiting them again in the future.
