Morganfield's Philippines New Menu and Affordable Value Meal and Combo Sets

September 30, 2017
Morganfield's Philippines, home of the famous and delicious Sticky Bones recently added new items to their menu. I figured it is the best time to finally visit their branch at Ayala Malls The 30th one of Morganfield's three branches here in the Philippines, the other two are located at SM MOA and Uptown BGC. It is one of the restaurants highly recommended by some of my fellow Manila food bloggers and friends who shares the same love for good ol' ribs, and I can understand them why.

It is not as if Morganfield's menu wasn't extensive and impressive enough because I tell you, they have everything for everyone. Add to that the fact that the have value meal sets with really affordable prices.

Morganfield's commitment to satisfy their diners with their Sticky Bones and other dishes drives them to continuously develop menu items that everyone will surely loves. Yes, aside from the signature dishes from their mothership in Malaysia, Morganfield's Philippines got some dishes developed with local diners in mind.

It is worthy to note that at Morganfield's, all ribs are imported from Spain. So, the difference in quality as well as size compared to other restaurants here in Manila that sells ribs are very apparent. Other ingredients on the other had are sourced locally.

Morganfield's is known for their amazing spare ribs, but did you know that they do serve equally amazing Iberico baby back ribs as well? Their Jack Daniel's Glazed Iberico Baby Back Ribs is one of the best sellers on their menu. This time, they have come up with two new flavor variants that will make their Iberico Baby Back Ribs all the more special.

The two new variants are the Sticky Applesauce Iberico Baby Back Ribs and the Lemon Cola Iberico Baby Back. Just like the Jack Daniel's Glazed variant, these two are priced at Php1,050 per whole slab. Not bad, right? the serving is big because Morganfield's strictly follows the American serving size standard.

I was able to try the Lemon Cola Iberico Baby Back Ribs and boy did it blew me away. Essentially, n order is a whole slab of Iberico baby back ribs smothered with freshly squeezed zesty lime juice, simmered with cola and Morganfield's homemade BBQ sauce then topped with fruit salsa. Crisp corn tortilla and coleslaw are served on the side which makes for a perfect meal which can be shared with your loved ones.

Another new dish on the menu is the Torched Salmon (Php575) which is basically a big portion of Norwegian salmon on a bed of shitake pilaf rice. I cannot count how many times have I mentioned here on the blog how much I love salmon so this one was a sure winner for me.

What makes this dish more lovable was the crisp salmon skin and the crisp seaweed added for a good measure. I love that the salmon leans on a hefty portion which makes this well worth its price.

I also got to try the new Chicken Roulade (Php445) made of boneless chicken thigh stuffed with meatball filling wrapped with bacon. To complete a very satisfying meal, this comes with mashed potato, mixed veggies, and homemade creamy mustard grain sauce.
What makes it different from the other chicken roulade dish which I have tried was the incorporation of meatballs that makes it very filling and also the impressive homemade mustard grain sauce which flavor combination you cannot find elsewhere.

There is also a new salad option on the menu called Smokehouse Club Salad (Php395). Fresh garden greens topped with chicken, mixed cheese, bell peppers, egg, crispy pork bacon bits, red onions, and croutons served with BBQ ranch dressing.

I am a hardcore meat-lover but I cannot last a meal without salad because I also love my greens. The thing I love about this salad is the flavor combination that compliments each other. The serving portion is also impressive that even a hefty eater like me would find that it is best to share a serving of this salad.

I know that given that spare ribs are inherently pricey here in our country, people may think that Morganfield's Philippines is way too expensive for the budget of middle class Filipino. Truth is, I was under that impression at first too. Until I was introduced to their value meal sets. There are numbers of meal sets which price wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket.

Take for instance this combo set I tried. For only Php495 you can already enjoy this Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs with Crispy Fish served with coleslaw and a choice of salad or soup of the day. Very affordable and filling. There are plenty more options available so be sure to check them out when you visit Morganfield's.

For the drinks I was able to try the Banana Split Milk Shake which flavor reminds me of childhood memories in my favorite ice cream parlor in Manila. The Waikiki on the other hand makes for a perfect refreshing drink especially during summer. Both are good and I wouldn't mind having them again on my next visit.

There are plenty of things to try at Morganfield's that a single visit wouldn't suffice. Their spare ribs are solid choice of course but I suggest you to try other stuff as well because they are all good. I am impressed with how delicious the Lemon Cola Iberico Baby Back Ribs was and to be honest, I am dreaming of having it again sometime soon.

The Torched Salmon and the Chicken Roulade are something that one should try whether if you're trying to seek respite from pork meat or you just want something different. The salad of course is a good option to offset the guilt of consuming meaty stuff in an equally delicious way.
