Burgoo at Gateway Mall

Monday, March 9, 2009

It was one of those rare moments when Jo-anne, Anjo, and I could spend a Saturday afternoon together to catch up with each other. That afternoon at Gateway Araneta Cubao we were so overwhelmed to finally see each other we can't even decide where to eat.

Since I am the only smoker in the group and it was too hot outside, I forgo the idea of eating somewhere with a smoking area, so we head inside of the mall instead.

It was Jo-anne who suggested Burgoo because she is craving for spare ribs that time. Good thing we all agree because we really did enjoy the food!

Their Baby Back Ribs Platter comes with grilled shrimp, fries, and corn on a cob. I don't know if we are just so hungry that time or do they just have a small serving of this platter? It's probably because it is so delicious we couldn't help but to crave for more.

Their Chicken Pops is so crispy but it is tender on the inside. Good combination with their garlic sauce, we asked for more.

I am not a big fan of thick crust pizza, but surprisingly, since the toppings are so good, I did enjoy this one as well.

On deciding what to drink, Anjo chose the Coffee Shake which resembles to Frappucino from Starbucks, Jo-anne settled on very summery Watermelon Shake, while me on the other hand was so intrigued by the shake on their menu they call Elephant Charge. It taste good. It taste like banana shake with a twist.

Also, it is a good thing that they have this innovative idea of providing their customers crayons and sheet of big paper on the table so that they can doodle away while they are waiting for the food to be served.

All in all, it was a delightful summery afternoon with good food and good service from Burgoo's Gateway Mall.

Arya Persian Restaurant

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

My friends slash fellow food enthusiasts just had lunch at Fish and Co. at Shangri-la Mall in Edsa but the need to have a coffee kicks us in the butt upon arriving Greenhills at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Although Starbucks Theatre Mall is not that crowded, the scorching heat of the sun will probably eat us alive should we take a sit at the smoking area of the cafe.

Since it is very impossible for CJ and I to stay in a non-smoking area, we decide to look for another cafe but no avail. I am craving for my usual Java Chip Cafe from Starbucks so what we did instead, was to negotiate with the waiter from Arya Persian Restaurant that we will be placing our orders for their desserts just as long as they would allow us to bring our coffee in their resto with no corkage.

The kind waiter allowed us and then presented to us their menu while Glenn is ordering our caffein fix at Starbucks. We do not regret it.

Aryan Persian Restaurant has wide variety of choices from main entree to their dessert. Since we are still loaded from what we have eaten at Fish and Co. we decided to order their Date Cake and then Fresh fruits with yogurt. However, since it was my first time at Arya, we decided to try their humus and Pita Bread as well.

Their Date Cake is superb. The combination of the warm cake and the sweet milky sauce plus the whipped cream impeccable.

The Fresh Fruits combined with Yogurt tastes like ice cream with just the right amount of sweetness.

Their Humus, compare to the other Humus I have tasted is more delectable, not to mention their generous serving.
The Pita Bread is made into perfection with a slightly sweetened taste.

They offer wide varieties of Persian Food that has reasonable price. And according to some blogs I have read regarding Arya, the food are fantastic ou'll definitely get your money's worth.

I have to take photos of this, the cutest water container I've ever seen.

Next time, I'll definitely try thier Seisha!
Good thing that the sun is not so friendly that afternoon otherwise, we wouldn't get to experience a delectable afternoon dessert at Arya. Next time, we will try their main entree.

Biggs Diner

Sunday, February 8, 2009
Anyone who has been to Naga probably had a gastronomical experience at Biggs Diner, the number one fastfood chain in Bicol. Oh, pardon me, I almost forgot, one of their sinage states, "We're GOOD food not FASTfood."

When I visited a friend from Naga, she immediately swayed me and another friend to have a snack at Biggs Diner located in the Centro. This branch is particularly located in front of Plaza Quince Martires.

What amazed me the most is the affordable price of the food offered, not to mention the good taste which can be compared to our local food chain here in Manila. This is highly recommended for Naga tourists on a tight budget.

Again, just like our local fastfood in the metro, they do not just offer wide variety of food choices, but they do have value meal as well.

I especially like their Fried Chicken. It may look like freaking lame but once you tasted it, it's goodbye chicken joy and finger-lickin'-good.

Another thing that made me fall in love with it is its ambiance. I love 50's era, so, my eyes feasted on every antic memorabilla the diner has.

Good food, good ambiance, I'll go back to naga City for Biggs!
