Bono Artisanal Gelato at The Podium Mall in Ortigas

August 02, 2013
Even before I got to try Bono Artisanal Gelato, most of the food bloggers in Manila I know were dishing out raves left and right. Most of them even tagged it as the best gelato in Manila, rightfully so, since Bono Gelato deserves such distinction. After tasting some of its flavors, I considered it my benchmark when it comes to really good gelato.

Their first branch located in SM Makati is rather far and out of way considering my usual route, and their branch at SM Aura is even more so. Despite the fact that Bono Gelato is worth trekking that uncharted path, it still a good news to me that they opened a new store located at The Podium in Ortigas.

Located at the ground floor, literally a stone's throw away from Wildflour, Bono Artisanal Gelato at The Podium is a tad bigger compare to the flagship store in Makati. Half of the space is occupied by the glass enclosed space where the magic of gelato making happens.

Several flavors were introduced since the last time I paid a visit. They now have a line of low sugar gelatos aptly tagged as Dietetico or Low Sugar. I am not big on low sugar goodies because I am not the most health conscious person you will ever meet (do not judge, okay?) but my friend Richard of Tales From The Tummy tried the Cappuccino variant and he seemed happy about it.

What I did try however were two of the flavors I am most curious about; Rogue and Matcha.

The fact that Rogue is topped with Elijah Craig bourbon-spiked butterscotch sauce not to mention its namesake is one of my favorite magazines, assured me that I will definitely love this flavor from the get-go. True enough, I appreciate the distinct flavor of bourbon and the play of texture brought about by crushed roasted pecan was equally delightful. Although it may not be something that kiddos might enjoy because it carries a rather strong bourbon flavor to it.

Considering it was Bono Artisinal Gelato I was dealing with, I have high expectations with their Matcha Green Tea with Adzuki Red Beans. I am crazy about Matcha, I have a serious relationship with anything Matcha, just as long as it is legit. Thankfully, Bono's rendition did not disappoint. It has the matcha-in-your-face kind of spunk, which was expected because when it comes to flavor, you cannot expect anything less from Bono.

It's not as if Bono Artisanal Gelato opening at The Podium Mall in Ortigas was not good enough for a great news, they are also offering FREE DELIVERY to New Manila, San Juan, Greenhills, Horseshoe, Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong, Kapitolyo, Ortigas Center, Corinthian Gardens, Corinthian Hills, Valle Verde, Pasig (parts), Acropolis, Greenmeadows, Eastwood, White Plains, St. Ignatius, Blue Ridge, Cubao (parts) for a minimum purchase of Php1000. No reason for you not to enjoy this amazing creation that only Bono, the rockstar of all gelatos can give.
