WeChat 5.2 Upgrade with 6 New Features

March 05, 2014

For the past couple of days, I am developing this new morning ritual that revolves around coffee and WeChat. I was the big breakfast kind of girl but since I have been dealing with some recipe development and food photography projects lately, I have to make do with what my little time could accommodate. Ditching coffee is out of the question. Logging on to my WeChat account to communicate with some of my clients, all the more. So yeah, every morning, it’s just usually the three of us in my studio-slash-kitchen.

Couple of days ago, upon logging on to my WeChat, I was prompted with a message from WeChat Team notifying me that the new WeChat 5.2 upgrade is now available. I tell you this, save for my Instagram account where I showcase most of my kitchen works, WeChat is one of my most used mobile app. Needless to say, I am excited with this new upgrade.

WeChat’s 5.2 upgrade for Android and iOS
I could not stress enough how indispensable WeChat to me especially now that I am slowly trying to incorporate it in my works as a freelancer and as well as a blogger. Means of communication with clients, friends, and loved ones used to be within the confines of text messages, phone calls, and emails. Now that WeChat’s 5.2 upgrade for Android and iOS matches my drive and energy to get through the day with all my activities at hand, I am confident that communication while I am on the go will be so much easier, not to mention fun!

So, what’s new about this WeChat 5.2, you ask. Read on…

Menu Bar
WeChat 5.2 boasts of clear interface wherein its many features are compartmentalized into three sections; Chats, Discover, and Contacts. These sections allows the WeChat 5.2 users to continue with their current chat conversation while having the possibility of starting new exchanges with their friends through the Contacts tab. Other favorite WeChat features on the other hand are accessible through the Discover tab such as Moments feed, Scan QR Code, Shake, People Nearby, Drift Bottle, Games, and Sticker Shop.

Friend Radar
This feature provides an easy way to add your friends to your contact list by identifying WeChat users within the same vicinity you are in by tapping to their images. Friend Radar accessed through the Menu Bar > Add Contacts does the digital friend-scanning for you, as you connect with the same people in person.

Real-time Location-sharing
Keep your friends on the loop with this feature as it allows WeChat users to share where they are to their friends and help others to navigate their way on the WeChat map through an integrated walkie-talkie session. Simply open a chat > + > Locations > Real-time Location > to view one another’s maps.

Group Chat Photo Album
The integration of a Group Chat Photo Album, photos shared in your group chat are arranged by date and then stored in one location accessed through one tap of the Photo Album icon. This gives users easy access to their photos they might want to upload on their social network accounts.

Universal Search
Type into the search field whatever it is that you are looking for as you track back your previous chats and voila, this feature will help you access them in no time.

Contact List Customization
This feature allows WeChat users to add photos, addresses, and business card to friend’s profile. What a way to manage contact list, right?

Aside from the mentioned notable features that WeChat 5.2 for Android update, there are other things that WeChat users like me could revel ourselves into. These includes more animated stickers from Sticker Shop which capture your experiential responses; Group Chat Mention Notifications which will notify you when your name is mentioned in a Group Chat; boosted quality for Video and Audio Chats; and a LinkedIn Account in WeChat which lets you grow your professional circle.

This new upgrade of WeChat indeed is an exciting feat as it does not only present us with an easy to use interface, but features that encourage more possibilities to our social life in the virtual world. So if I may suggest, check out their website at www.wechat.com and upgrade now for the latest WeChat updates. See you at WeChat 5.2 friends!
