Sulok Café, Antipolo City

September 26, 2016
Sulok Café is one of the newest cafe / restaurants in Antipolo City that just opened recently. It offers variety of cafe grubs such as sandwiches, pasta, salads, as well as rice meals alongside different coffee concoctions proudly curated for Sulok Café diners.  With variety of dishes and drinks on the menu, coupled with free wifi and a decent ambiance, Sulok Café can be a perfect hang out place where you can find your own favorite corner - or as they say, sulok.

I visited Sulok Café recently and based on my experience, I must say that Sulok Café rightfully deserve to be included on my Antipolo Food Trip Blog Series

Stepping inside Sulok Café, the thing that I noticed first was the artistic vibe it has. While it is not really an art cafe, the walls peppered with scribbles by Sulok Café's customers will make you think otherwise.

Sulok Café is not really hard to find. It is located in the same building as the best burger joint in Antipolo City, The Sons of Burger and another impressive cafe, The Little House of Cheesecake. It is also near Ynares Center and Pinto Art Museum.

For a start-up cafe, I find Sulok Café's menu impressive enough. It has variety of dishes including rice meals for those who wants to have a full meal while enjoying the cafe vibe of the place. The prices are competitive enough judging by the several cafes and restaurants which I have been to nearby.

First on the table during my visit was the Chili Poppers (Php135) which I find really good and highly addictive. I love the level of spice which was tempered by the creaminess of the cream cheese. Best enjoyed when hot but even if not, one may still find popping one after another of these chili poppers into ones' mouth really hard to resist.

Next was my personal favorite, Corned Beef Bagizza (Php135). Bagizza in a nutshell is a pizza in a baguette bread. I love the brand of corned beef they use as well as the generosity of all the things including the cheese and shoestring potatoes. Simply put, this is my favorite among the lot I have tried at Sulok Café.

The Crusted Fish Fillet (Php170) is part of their rice meal menu which comes with free large Americano. I find this dish good enough although I do not really enjoy having fish dishes when dining out. But my mom who I was with during the visit said she liked it especially with the mashed potato thrown in the mix. It comes with a serving of rice but even without it, this dish is filling since it is served with garlic bread as well.

The Malunggay Pasta (Php160) was basically your usual pesto dish with malunggay instead of the usual basil leaves. Served with chunks of crisp chicken which lends another dimension of flavor when eaten together. It tasted light making it perfect for those who prefer healthy meals.

The Tuyo and Mushroom Pasta (Php145) was another dish which I find highly impressive. I have had several tuyo pasta before but not with mushroom and this combination was such a revelation. Safe to say that this could be one of the reasons why I would want to go back to Sulok Café. Definitely a dish not be missed.

The Oreo Pancake (Php170) can be an indulging treat perfect for those who loves pancakes, Oreo, and has sweet tooth. There are also cakes at Sulok Café but none of it were available during my visit hence this Oreo pancake served as my dessert that visit.

Of course, a visit at Sulok Café wouldn't be complete without trying out their coffee. I was able to try the Smores Frappe (Php130/reg, Php230/large) and loved it immensely. Not just because I love smores in general but because the execution of this delightful dish was just perfect including the torched marshmallow. I have tried other Smores frappe from other cafes, but this one is currently my favorite.

The Cafe Antonio (Php120) which was basically a latte was also impressive. I love the perfect balance of coffee and milk and I appreciate that it was not overly sweet.

Based on my experience, I must say that Sulok Café is well worth the visit. The food were good, the prices are competitive, and the place got a good ambiance. So if you happen to be in the area, I suggest that you drop by Sulok Café, and enjoy your own corner while feasting on good grubs and great coffee.
