Bellini's Italian Restaurant

May 31, 2009

In search for a new restaurant to try out which is near Libis Quezon City where my friends are working, our feet drag us in an artsy fartsy place in the heart of Cubao.

Bellini's is a quaint Italian restaurant in the Old Marikina Shoe Expo located in Cubao. Though I frequent my self in that place trying to look for whichever antiques catches my attention, I haven't noticed Bellini's untill a friend of my sister told her about it. Also, it was the restaurant location used for one of Bea Alonzo and John Loyd Cruz's movie entitled One More Chance.

Bellini’s is run by a Filipina proprietress Maria Luisa and her Italian husband, Roberto Bellini, thus the name of the resto. Mr. Bellini was a former Italian paparazzo and some of the photos he took during those days were displayed on the walls of the resto which adds an Italian feel to the ambiance.

As for the food, well it's a bit pricey but then you'll definitely get your money's worth.

For a starter we ordered Appetizer Platter which consist of five different appetizers of your choice. Since we are seafood lovers we had 2 servings of Seafood salad, Anchovies, Squid salad, then Mushroon salad.
What is Italian dining without the pasta, so when we asked the waiter what is their best seller they immediately offer us 3Sticco or the Pasta Platter consisting of three different pasta. It has Seafood Pesto, Penne, and Spicy Pasta which surprisingly taste so good although it looks like it was just a pasta soaked in hot water then some chillis on top.
For their pizza, we settled for Bellini's Special Pizza which is a combination of every toppings in their wide variety of pizzas.

Their Focaccia bread and Dip is a nice combination with their Pasta Platter.

For the dessert, we ordered their After 8 Gelatto. A heavenly Mint flavored ice cream sandwiched in equally heavenly chocolate gelatto.
And of course, we couldn't let their dessert for the day passed without tasting it. This delectably warm chocolate cake with merengue on top and a drizzle of hot caramel sauce is called Obama Cake.

I was never an alcohol lover but Italian dining wouldn't be complete without wine, so I ordered a glass and to my surprise, I did enjoy the experience I'll probably have a glass or two everytime I dine out in resto like this.

The ambiance of the place is unapologetically aesthetic in the eye It's good to know that there is a plce like this in the heart of busy and people-laden Cubao.

The paparazzi shot that Mr. Bellini took are so inspiring as it adds drama to the already dramatic set up of the place.

For a place like this and for the food as tasteful as we had, we don't mind paying big bucks as we already got its worth with our experience at Bellinis.

Good food, good service, and good ambiance coupled with good friends and fellow food enthusiasts makes Yedylicious trully happy.
