Frankie's New York Buffalo Wings at City Golf Plaza

October 27, 2012
When craving for buffalo wings, one of the best places I could recommend is Frankie's New York Buffalo Wings located at City Golf Plaza along Dona Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City.  Although new in the field, Frankie's boasts of downright impressive buffalo wings of different variants, New York style.

While it is situated in a place which I really do not frequent to, Frankie's gave me the reason to go back if only to taste one of the best buffalo wings I've had.

Although small, Frankie's place exudes a really comfortable abode fit for an after work hang out. During my visit, the place was packed with people but surprisingly, after a long day of work, I find myself getting relaxed as the dinner progressed.

Frankie's New York Style Buffalo Wings (Php143 - 6pcs. / Php273 - 1 dozen)
Frankie's currently offers six different buffalo wings flavors; Frankie's Classic Buffalo, Frankie's Special, Garlic Parmesan, Hickory BBQ, Honey Mustard, and Salt and Pepper. I was able to try all the flavors aside from Salt and Pepper and boy was I blown away!

Frankie's Special are buffalo wings fried with batter which makes it crispier as compare to the other variants. The look reminds me of Jollibee Chicken Joy but in terms of taste and texture, it is way way better. I was expecting it to be a tad oily by the way the batter looked on the wing's surface, but surprisingly, it wasn't oily at all. I love how moist the chicken inside without any assaulting oil oozing out as you bite on it. In terms of taste, it hinted of an Asian flair to it which I assume has something to do with the herbs ans spices they used.

Frankie's Special
Frankie's Garlic and Parmesan Buffalo Wings is one of my favorites. The garlic flavor blends well with the distinct taste of the Parmesan and it goes well with the crispiness of the skin. I love how the flavor does not overpower the chicken, rather it only enhances the savory component of the dish. I could go back at Frankie's and down a dozen of this in no time.

Frankie’s Hickory BBQ Buffalo Wings is fit for those who wants a tangy flair to their wings. While I appreciate the smokiness of this variant, I could have liked it even more if it leans on the sweeter barbecue side of the spectrum. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind having this again on my next visit.

Hail to the mother of all honey mustard wings in the planet, Frankie's Honey Mustard Buffalo Wings grabbed the top spot on my favorite list. Digging into crisp wings smothered with honey mustard sauce was the highlight of my visit at Frankie's. I love how the sweetness of this variant lingers in my palate on a first bite until it introduces the savory note that blends perfectly well with the texture as I continue munching on it, non-stop.

Honestly, I've been haunted by this in my dreams for days now.

Frankie's Classic Buffalo on the other hand was a tad too spicy for my taste. Since I am not really big on spicy food, I assume that the level of spiciness is just normal to some people. Good thing that diners can request for the level of spiciness that will suit to their liking.

Frankie's Classic Buffalo
Aside from buffalo wings, Frankie's also offers other food on the menu. Currently, choices are limited but they are constantly developing their menu to serve and provide more options in the future. They also serve alcoholic drinks to complete a satisfying buffalo indulging dining experience.

Pasta is the last thing on my mind whenever I visit restaurants with a goal of indulging on buffalo wings in mind.  Pasta is a filling dish, I need all the space in my tummy I can get for some wings. That is why it really didn't bother me that Frankie's Spaghetti Bolognese isn't fit for my liking. I find it a bit sour for my taste and I would have enjoyed it more if it were a bit savory sweet. But then we cannot expect a Pinoy style Spaghetti to a place that serves New York style treats anyway, so it's no big deal for me.

I am one of those who is really crazy about good fries, and Frankie's Fries do not disappoint.  It reminds me of the one at Clucky's only it is a tad chunkier. The fries are already good on its own, but the aioli dip that comes with it could take this treat a notch higher.
Every diners is given a plastic hand gloves so there really is no worry about getting your hands dirty as you feast your heart out with their scrumptious buffalo wings.

The first time I have been to Frankie's I was already impressed. Their buffalo wings are way way better than others I have tried. What endears me more to Frankie's is its affordability and the impressive quality of wings they dishes out. 1/2 dozen of really good buffalo wings will cost you Php 143 while the dozen is priced at Php 273. It is really a great deal considering that the serving portion is really generous and the taste is impressive.

So, if you are in Ortigas-Pasig area, be sure to visit Frankie's because whether you are a buffalo wings lover or not, there is a really big chance that you'll be impressed at Frankie's. As a matter of fact, even if you're not in the area, I could say that this place is worth the travel.
