The Phoenix Court: DIMSUM Eat-All-You-Can

May 31, 2014
Phoenix Court is a fine-dining Chinese signature restaurant of The Bellevue Manila located in Alabang. It features their creative take on well-loved Chinese cuisine spearheaded by their Chinese chef. Phoenix Court is also known as one of the best restaurants that offers an All-You-Can-Eat-Dimsum promo alongside other delectable ala carte dishes such as their Chef's specials line.

Phoenix Court is located at the second floor of tower wing of The Bellevue Hotel and has a seating capacity of 250 person and can accommodate private diners for group. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 2:30pm and 6pm to 10pm.

During our epic staycation in Alabang where we get to stay at B Hotel and do some food tripping at The Bellevue Hotel, Phoenix Court was one of our gastronomical destination. Our first dinner at Bellevue was spent with loads of freshly-made dimsum care of the Phoenix Court. We also tried their Chef's Specials on our third day which I will be also blogging about soon. But first, the Dimsum Eat-All-You-Can.

Dimsum Eat-All-You-Can at Phoenix Court boasts of variety of special dimsums that ranges from steamed, baked, deep-fried, and pan-fried. All of these are freshly-made. Aside from dimsum, the promo also includes rice, noodles, soup, and desserts.

Needless to say that during our staycation, it was one of the things I am looking forward to experience. My friend Rina was raving about it ever since they tried it on one of their trip to The Bellevue. Knowing that Rina and I have similarities in terms of flavor preferences, I knew right there and then that there is a big possibility that I will enjoy it as well. And I was right! Thanks to our dear friend Jane, our Queen of the South for arranging this dinner at The Phoenix Court.

There are impressive number of dimsum and other items on the Dimsum Eat-All-You-Can menu. Impressive in terms of number and by the end of the night, I concluded that everything was also impressive of quality and taste. Like what Rina mentioned, even the steamed peanuts, a complimentary appetizer, tasted so good, you would ask for more. This steamed peanuts tasted like it was marinated in an Asado marinade more than anything. And I did asked for second helpings.

During the dinner, when the parade of the dimsum started, it was a lovely chaos that reminded me of a town feast. I basically tried almost everything on the menu, save for desserts since I stuffed my self silly enough by the time everyone was calling for desserts. I was able to take photos of most of the items which I really really liked just like their Hakaw or Crystal Prawn Dumpling (photo above). Dare I say it was one of the best Hakaw I have ever eaten!

I am a big fan of Seafood Roll at The President Tea House in Binondo and Phoenix Court's Mango Seafood Roll with Mayonnaise was a whisper away from being its identical twin. I think I have ordered two servings of this since my table mates that evening seemed to enjoy it as well.

The Watercress Dumpling was equally impressive and I deem any veggie-loving person will get to like it. I love the accompanying sweet soy sauce it was served with. The Prawn and Shrimp Dumpling on the other hand was a treat for those who wants their dumpling crisp and flavorful. I enjoy it simply because the crisp wonton wrappers added texture to the entire deal.

The Xiao Long Pao was decent enough for me to have two servings of it. Not comparable to other Xiao Long Bao I have tried in the past, but definitely noteworhy.

The Pork and Shrimp Siomai was divine! I love the ratio of pork to shrimp because none was overshadowing the other. There's also caviar on top, making it all the more special.

I admit that I was on the fence when we ordered for Fried Salmon Taro Puff. Simply because I was apprehensive about the combination of salmon and taro. When it was served to us, I was impressed by the way it looked and equally impressed by the way it taste. I like taro puffs and the addition of salmon gave it a different dimension in flavor.

Prior to placing our orders, my friend Richie was already raving about the Glutinous Pork Pie. Since Richie is one of those people whose palatte I trust, I know I should give it a go. And boy was he right. It was good.

I figured the dough was made of ground glutinous rice because of its sticky texture. The pork inside leaned on the sweet-savory side of flavor profile, making me feel like I was eating fried siopao, only, there was a galring difference in the dough.

The Barbecue Pork Pastry, I was surprised that I ended up liking it. For one, it looks like hopia at a glance which I am not really crazy about. Second, it was spicy. Well, not really overwhelmingly so, but it does possess the usual kick that most barbecue-flavored goodies are known for.

The Crispy Pork Bun can be liken to the usual fried siopao, but the filling is way generous and downright savory as compared. I love that the glistening outer covering was not just enticing to look at, but it has flavor as well.

I love empanadas, hence their Baked Chicken Curry Pie was an easy target. Although it has a spicy kick of which is more than I can handle, I just cannot stop myself from indulging on it because it was so good. I just kept on alternating my bite with other dimsum so as not to be overwhelmed with its spicy flavor.

The Spareribs in Taosi was another favorite. I love that although the flavor was impressive in itself, the tenderness of the meat added to the charming flair that this dish has.

We only discovered the goodness of the Nori Shrimp Rolls towards the end of our dinner but that does not stopped us from having a generous helpings of it. The nori wrapper definitely added flavor to this dimsum, not to mention a spunky look due to its color. The plump shrimp inside was so good that as of time of writing this, I am dreaming of going back again at Phoenix Court.

I was more than happy to be feasting on the dimsum that I completely skipped the variety of rice served to us. However, the goodness of this Wonton Noodle Soup, I cannot say no to.

The photos above show just roughly 1/4 of the dimsum selections on their menu. There many more which I heard are all good and worth raving for. The dessert line includes Deep-fried sesame ball butchi, chilled mango sago cream, chilled almond bean curd with longan, and hot taro sago with coconut milk. Pretty impressive line up but as I have mentioned, I skipped everything since I wa too full with all the dimsums I have eaten that night.

Phoenix Court
For the price of Php850++ per person (Adult) and Php420++ 9kid 6 to 12 yrs old) I must say that Dimsum Eat-All-You-Can at Phoenix Court is a bang for your buck. Usual buffet rules are observed such as no sharing, no takeout, and no left over. Minimum of two person is needed to avail this promo which I deem reasonable since if you are going on a dimsum feast, for sure you would want to share it with your loved ones.

I can see myself coming back at Phoenix Court for their Dimsum Eat-All-You-Can because it really impressed me the first time. I think can be a good treat for friends and family especially for those like mine, who enjoys and love dimsum and other Chinese dishes.
