Foodie.ph Food Delivery Service: Classic Favorites at Tropical Hut Hamburger Through Foodie.Ph

June 29, 2013
If you have been reading my blog, you probably have an idea that aside from blogging about restaurants in Manila and some great food finds, I also love to write about food delivery services. With the kind of erratic work schedule that I have, food delivery services here in Manila always come handy.  Recently, when an ill bout of mean craving for Tropical Hut Hamburger’s goodies hit me, I was introduced to Foodie.ph. It is a new food delivery and take-out service that is all geared up to cater to the needs of foodies.

Foodie.ph carries an impressive number of restaurants, retailers, and specialty stores under its wings.  It operates 24/7 and orders can be placed online while they are on soft launch, and ordering through phone will be possible in the next month. While you can say that there are other services just like that, the great thing that separates this new player in the field to others is its minimum order is only Php 300. Standard delivery charge is 10% and if you order below the minimum, additional Php75 will be charged on top of the delivery fee. Sure, dining out is always pleasurable and cooking is even more so, but when you are battling rage against time due to tons of tasks at hand, food delivery services can be a good option.

To give this new kid on the league a test drive, I decided to satisfy my cravings and have some goodies from Tropical Hut Hamburger delivered to me.  Navigating through Foodie.ph’s website is a walk in the park. Everything is laid out in front of you and all you have to do is to create an account, and from there, you can click your way through their list of restaurants and begin the process of ordering. If for some reason you need clarification regarding the process, they have a dedicated FAQ page to assist you.

Rancho Ranchero
I placed my order through their website at around 12:30pm and couple of minutes after hitting the “placed order” button, Foodie.ph agent named Ron called me to confirm my order. Talking to Ron was yet again an easy feat because he was very accommodating and attentive. I indicated several requests regarding my orders such as the condiments and the packaging and Ron enthusiastically took all necessary information regarding my requests.

Hawaiian Glee
I was promised that my order will arrive 50 to 60 minutes after our conversation and I was more than happy that it only took 45 minutes before my food arrived. The delivery guy whose name I cannot remember (I am so sorry dear) was very friendly. I told him that I’ve made several requests regarding my orders and he assured that everything was well taken care of. True enough, he handed me a complete set of food that was obviously handled very nicely since no signs of spilled food greeted me.

Tropical Hut Classic Burger
After receiving my orders, I received several emails containing information of my orders as well as the delivery status. I appreciate this kind of updates since it depicts transparency, hence, you would know exactly what is happening to your food from the time you placed the order up to the time it reached your home.

All in all, I could say that I am extremely satisfied with the kind of service that Foodie.ph provided.. From the easy to navigate website, to the accommodating agent and the friendly delivery guy, down to the way my food was  handled, it was smooth sailing all the way. I can honestly say that it was one of the best delivery experiences I have ever dealt with. Considering it was my first time to use their service, I could say that they have impressed me all the way.

Club House
Now on to the food. Truth be told, Tropical Hut Hamburger holds a special place in my heart. It is my parent’s go-to fast food restaurant whenever they want something fast and good to satisfy their hunger. It has been in the business for so many years now and my parents’ love for Tropical Hut was handed down to us, their children. While I have to admit that nothing is really mind-blowing on their menu, the fact that eating their goodies is like savoring beautiful nostalgia from way back my younger years was more than enough to satisfy me. I have said that nothing is mind-blowing, but it doesn’t mean that they do not dish out good food, because they do. Needless to say, it’s a classic favorite.

Spaghetti
Php300 is the minimum order amount at Foodie.ph, but my budget was set to Php1000 because seriously, there are so many dishes to enjoy at Tropical Hut. That afternoon, after having experienced a great service by Foodie.ph, the nostalgia overdrive begun and I was in for a feast. No, I did not devour everything all by myself because my equally hungry siblings were up to the feast themselves, and I gladly shared with them the blessing.

Palabok
Known for their hamburgers, it is only apt to grab some of Tropical Hut’s hamburgers to feast on.  We had their Rancho Ranchero (Php98), Hawaiian Glee (Php98), and my favorite Classic Burger (Php109).  The taste of their burgers was everything I hoped it to be, the same taste that I grew up with. The proverbial sunny side up egg still sat on top of the burger patty of the Rancho Ranchero, while the pineapple ring still brought that distinct sweet flair to the Hawaiian Glee burger. As for the Classic Burger, It still holds the special place in my heart with its hugeness and simplicity.

Spring Chicken
Clubhouse Sandwich (Php104) was a pleasant bend from the burger feast, while the Cheesedog Sandwich (Php46) although not as big as I hoped it to be, was still satisfying nevertheless. Spaghetti (Php53) has the charm of Pinoy taste spaghetti, while the Palabok (Php66) was generously topped with all good things that make a palabok special.

I wasn’t crazy about their chicken but Tropical Hut’s Spring Chicken (Php161) was a different story. Its size made it all worthy for its price, not to mention that the taste was indeed one of its kind. Daing Na Bangus (Php132) came with fried egg and rice was another favorite, and Tropical Hut’s rendition remains to be one of the best served here in Manila.

Daing Na Bangus
With the satisfying experience I had with Foodie.ph and the equally satisfying food from Tropical Hut, I would say that I was really impressed. The convenience of having food delivered at home was made all the more satisfactory, thanks to Foodie.ph.

  1. One of the things that I have really grown to love about living in Manila is the fact that you can get just about anything delivered...and that is SUPER handy when it's raining cats and dogs outside! I haven't tried this particular service but will be sure to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

  4. It's really nice to see that Tropical Hut's having a revival of sorts. They're a really good brand. They just need to revamp their marketing plan. =)
