Chili's Philippines: Chili's Your Way to Food Feast Because More Life Happens Here!

My recent visit at Chili's Bar and Restaurant SM Megamall branch to check out new items on their menu reminded me that the last time I wrote about them here on my food blog was way back 2009. That was five years ago (pardon the small photos and the writing style, if you're going to check out that post) and I could not believe that despite several visits within that span of time, I am only writing about them again just now. I guess, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Recently, Chili's launched its new tagline, "More Life Happens Here" which I deem apt since I myself, is one of those who could testify that indeed, more life happens at Chili's. Since it opened its door here in the Philippines way back 1996, I cannot count how many times have I dined at Chili's, specifically at their branches at Tomas Morato and Greenhills. Whether its a celebration of some sort or just plain meeting up with friends, Chili's is definitely one of those restaurants that my loved ones, friends, and I frequent to.

While it would be funny to admit that their unlimited Tostada Chips and Salsa have something to do with our frequent visits, the truth is, more than the free refils of these addicting treats, it is Chili's overall appeal that endears it to us. From the good food that they serve to the cool ambiance they have and to the warm and friendly service they give, Chili's is definitely proved all through these years that they deserve all the thumbs up they get.

Now my visit at Chili's Megamall branch just this week was all about trying some new dishes and experiencing these great dishes by the virtue of "Chili's Your Way."

"Chili's Your Way" is basically the Chili's gastronomical experience wherein aside from the noteworthy service that their staff gives, the freedom to choose the side dishes that comes when you order three of their new dishes. Choices for the side dishes includes home-style fries, corn on the cob, Chili's cilantro rice, fresh veggies, steamed white rice, mashed potatoes, and broccoli spears.

Included in these new items at Chili's is this one great appetizer called Fried Quesadilla (Php 375). It is basically flour tortillas filled with southwest style chicken and cheese. Sounds like your usual fare, yes. But what makes this appetizer special is the fact that it is battered and fried to golden brown perfection. You may expect some oozing cheese alongside flavorful shredded chicken in every bite. I personally like this Fried Quesadilla because I am sucker for the real deal and now that it was given a delightful twist, it became all the more satisfying.

There are two Parmesan Crusted dishes that Chili's is excited for their diners to try. One if Parmesan Crusted Chicken while the other one is Parmesan Crusted Tilapia.

Parmesan Crusted Chicken (Php 395) is made out of chicken breast fillet covered with Parmesan and Monterey Jack cheese. It's not as if these were not enough to lend flavor to the chicken, it was also drizzled with chili butter and sprinkled with green onions. And since you are meant to "Chili's Your Way", this are served with two side dishes of your choice.

The Parmesan Crusted Tilapia (Php 425) is best option for those who loves fish. IT is basically the same as the chicken version of it, only it uses imported tilapia fish instead of the chicken. I personally prefer this one because I love the taste of tilapia in general. Take note however that since this is not our local fish, you can expect a milder flavor albeit really good.

Now the dilemma on whether to have bacon or steak can now be answered through this another new dish aptly called Chili's Bacon and Cheddar Steak (Php 875).  Southwest seasoned steak topped with bacon and melted cheddar cheese. Among the new dishes, this one made me extremely happy because well, I am big meat eater and I do not raise eye brows on people who consider bacon as religion.

Steaks are of course cooked based on the diners preferences, "Chili's Your Way", remember? So, whether you want it medium rare or well done, you can have it the way you want it. Add to that the happiness that bacon and melted cheddar cheese on top, then all is well with the world. Just like the previous two, Chili's Bacon and Cheddar Steak also comes with your choice of two side dishes.

For the dessert, they also have new addition; the Banana Bread Pudding (Php 295). This dessert is essentially a banana bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts. If you are big on really satisfying dessert dish, this one can be a good option because it wasn't too sweet and it comes in hefty serving.

Chili's also came up with new addition to their already impressive line of drinks, the Sparkling Soda (Php 125) which is made of soda with Strawberry Puree. I am not big on clear soda but I made an exception for this one because the strawberry puree made it interesting to the palate.

It is comforting to know, especially for followers like me, that Chili's after all these years is still on top of its game. I love the fact that I can go there and feel at home right the moment I set foot at their premises. The welcoming gestures of their staff are always appreciated, the same way I appreciate the fact that the quality of their food is still impressive.
