Bono Artisanal Gelato at Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall: New Flavors to Enjoy!

September 18, 2014
Last weekend, I paid a visit to Bono Artisanal Gelato at SM Mega Fashion Hall to try their new flavors. Rea, one of the great minds behind this rockstar gelateria has always been excited and proud to introduce Bono's new flavors. I figured, despite the loaded schedule and slightly injured ankle, I should pay a visit to check out their new babies since I am a self confessed Bono fan (Both the rockstar and the gelato, mind you.)

Since Bono Artisanal Gelato opened its door to the gelato-hungry public, several flavors were introduced. This time they have Butterbeer Gelato and The Spoiled Mommy Sundae up their sleeves to once again entertain the palates of gelato-lovers out there.

Their branch at SM Mega Fashion Hall in Mandaluyong is a welcome addition to the branches I usually frequent to. I am from the Eastern part of the Metro, so it is their branch at Podium that I would normally visit. Their branch in Megamall however became an instant favorite since with all the new restaurants opening in the area, it is where I would usually spend my time roaming around. I love that Bono is continuously branching out. People deserve good gelato, to be honest.

So, the first flavor that I tried at Bono was the downright impressive Butterbeer Gelato. I am not a big fan of Harry Potter as I favor Neil Gaiman's genius take on creative fantasy over J.K. Rowlings in a heart beat. Yet, I don't mind dealing with Butterbeer, a delightful treat made more famous by the said novel.

Butterbeer Gelato

Aptly described as a wizard's brew of butterscotch, beer, and crunchy pretzels, Bono's Butterbeer Gelato is a clear indication that magic do happen at Bono. I cannot count how many gelato flavors have I declared as my favorites at Bono but this one goes straight up to my list alongside the Matcha. Pardon if my photos did not do justice, because there are barks of crunchy pretzels thrown into the mix somewhere there, just not visible on the scoop I was handed.

The other flavor is The Spoiled Mummy Sundae. Bono is known to tie up with different famed personalities and this is their current collaboration with mommy blogger, The Spoiled Mummy. I rarely read mommy blogs save for my good friends Rina, Len, and Yen (more of a travel/food blog, but she's an awesomely hot mommah!) But thanks to Bono, I was introduced to an amazing blog that tackles not just mommyhood but all things interesting in general. Amazing blog, The Spoiled Mommy is, I suggest you check it out if you still have not.
The Spoiled Mummy Sundae

The Spoiled Mummy Sundae is essentially made of all-natural California strawberry gelato topped with belgian chocolate shell and rainbow sprinkles. Truth be told I am not big on strawberry flavored gelato/ice cream/drinks/what have you. Yet, since this one is made by Bono, I could finish a scoop or two in no time. And Belgian chocolate? what's not to love? Also, they have this promo that if you purchase The Spoiled Mummy Sundae priced at Php200, it will entitle you to 4 baby sundaes for only Php100 each.

These are just two new flavors that Bono Artisanal Gelato released recently. But knowing the creativity and passion that revolves around Bono's kitchen, I wouldn't be surprise to be introduced again to another awesome new flavors in no time. And I wouldn't mind because seriously, for me, Bono is the number one gelateria ever to grace Manila. It is still my rockstar gelato here in the Philippines, bar none.

  1. The butterbeer Gelato seems great! I haven't tried Bono Gelato, but I have had my fair share of ice cream. How does it fare when compared to Gelatissimo or Cafe Ti Amo Gelato? Or store bought Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry's?

I'm always looking to try new and interesting ice cream flavors!

    1. Hi Chef Jay, I really cannot compare it to the brands you've mention because only Bono Gelato gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling of walking the streets of Paris while feasting on the goodness of gelato. I am pretty picky when it comes to gelato, that is why I don't write about this subject often (haven't met a gelato brand which I think well worth my time and effort to blog about.) It's a different case with Bono. I wrote about them three times already because that's how much I like it.

Thanks for dropping by my blog!

    2. I'm very picky when it comes to ice cream as well! I'll try it out, maybe the butterbeer tastes like the yummy drink they serve at Early Bird Breakfast club. Do you have a favorite ice cream brand?

    3. I haven't tried that drink they are serving at EBBC, but I suggest that you give this Bono Butterbeer Gelato a go because it's really good. I would love to hear your thoughts on it so please do share it with us.

When it comes to ice cream per se, Häagen-Dazs is on top of my mind more often than not. Local brands such as Merry Moo and Carmen's Best are also some of my favorites.
