Yesterday, I received a bottle of Homemade Korean Kimchi and a Bottle of Gourmet Tuyo from Shela of L'Shef Food. L'Shef Food is a manufacturer and national distributor of gourmet food products. I was told that they are about to launch their new products, the bottled Korean Kimchi and Gourmet Tuyo in the market. They prided themselves by offering Korean Kimchi and Gourmet Tuyo that are all natural and free of preservatives.
I love kimchi and gourmet tuyo isn't a bad food choice in my book either hence, I was glad try out the products.
If you've been reading my blog, you know for a fact how much I love Korean food. It is also my forte in terms of cooking. I have several Korean food recipes on my blog archive and I've yet to share with you my own recipe for kimchi. But this is not to say that I am not interested in trying out kimchi which can be bought in the market. I actually try as much variety as I can to make comparison of which is good.
What I love about L'Shef's Korean Kimchi is the fact that it is the kind of kimchi that even non-spicy food lovers can eat. It wasn't too spicy nor too sour compared to other kimchi available in the market. I know it can be both a good thing and a bad thing. But I figured, it can be a good choice for people who wants to try kimchi but don't want to be overwhelmed with its distinct boldness in flavor.
Not really the best one I've tried in the market but definitely not a bad choice either.
I find L'Shef's Gourmet Tuyo on the other hand to be one of the best one I have tried in terms of taste - and I tell you, I have tried a lot. I love the fine balance between the savory taste and its right level of spiciness. I've tried eating it with rice and I could imagine it would be equally divine when cooked with a pasta.
The only sad thing about it is that there are more tiny bit of pieces of tuyo compared to entire half slice we normally see in other bottled gourmet tuyo in the market. As in most of it are durog durog and only few are left intact in its form as you can see on the photo. Otherwise, it could have been perfect. But still, it can be a good choice when craving for gourmet tuyo.
