I have my own salted egg potato chips recipe so I have not really jumped into the quest for finding the best salted egg chips in Manila. Yet, I could say that I have tried quite a handful of salted egg chips brands available in the Philippine market since the trend started. Some were good, while others sadly fell short.
The recent one I have tried was the Salted Egg Chips of Yummies by M. And no beating around the bush here - it's amazing. Hands down, it was the best store-bought salted egg chips I have tasted to date.

Of the numbers of salted egg chips brand I have tried, Salted Egg Chips of Yummies by M struck a fine balance in terms of flavor. The distinct taste of salted egg was ever present without overbearingly so.
A little kick of spice that tickles the palate also helps in cutting through the richness of an otherwise predominant flavor of the salted egg. Yes, it was rich in flavor but not cloying - it does not assault the senses.
It was downright addictive that I found it impossible to stop midway through the big tub. It has that kind of flavor that satisfy your palate at first bite then the lingering taste would make you crave for more until the only reason you got to stop was an empty tub.
And while this salted egg chips is already a universe on its own, the fact that I am a fat kid who has affinity for anything that goes well with rice is still palpable. So, I tried eating a few of these chips with rice. Yes. Rice. True story.
Made me happy. It was like eating rice with salted egg as viand. The crisp texture was a bonus. Crazy, but it works.
