I think one of the many effects of this on-going community quarantine on me is the constant craving for different cuisines especially those which I rarely cook at home. If you've been a regular here on my blog (thank you!), you know for a fact that I can whip up Filipino and Korean cuisines in no time. Vietnamese cuisine on the other hand has always been an uncharted territory. So, when there is a chance to feast on one, be it in a restaurant, a party, a food delivery, I make it a point to bask on its glorious flavors. 

Recently, Saigon Corner PH sent me some of their Vietnamese food offerings. With the pandemic in place, Saigon Corner PH is one of those restaurants that offers food delivery service in order for us to enjoy delicious Vietnamese food right at the comfort of our home. 

Saigon Corner PH is located at  Sgt. Esguerra in Quezon City. I haven't been to their restaurant but when situation permits, it is one of those restaurants on top of my list that I should visit. They offer variety of Vietnamese cuisine prepared by Chef Trung who is said to be trained and proven in Vietnam and Japan.

I cannot stress enough on this blog how much I love Korean Food. And if you are a long-time reader, you would probably know. I love dining in Korean restaurants, I even have a YouTube channel where I share some of the Korean food recipes I cook, and since we are still in a community quarantine, I figured it's high time to try Korean food home delivery available in our area.

Thanks to my Korean friend who taught me how to cook Korean food, I somehow know my way around this cuisine that everyone seems to love. If you have been reading this blog for quite a while now, you would probably have an idea how much I love seafood. I have co-authored a book, a restaurant guide published by Hinge Inquirer way back, and my section of the food was all about seafood. Given a choice between meat and seafood, I always pick seafood in a heartbeat.

Ca Phe Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant [Quarantine Eats Series | Home Food Delivery]

In continuing to feature great food that I enjoyed during this community quarantine period, I am in a quest to write something about cuisines I love but rarely had the chance to talk about here in my blog. Vietnamese Food takes the spotlight for today's blog. And the nearest Vietnamese Restaurant that offers home food delivery service to where I am right now is Ca Phe Saigon.

Ca Phe Saigon is a Vietnamese Restaurant that offers homemade authentic Vietnamese food and coffee which heirloom recipes were hailed from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam. Its farm-to-fork concept promises fresh ingredients in each dishes.

Currently, Ca Phe Saigon has branches in Marikina, Antipolo, and Mandaluyong. They are now accepting dine in customers amidst the pandemic, but since this blog review falls under my Quarantine Food Finds Series, we are still focusing on the home food delivery service side of the business.

Star Punjabi Dhaba Indian Restaurant [Quarantine Eats Series | Home Food Delivery]

I was still on a roll in satisfying my Indian Food cravings when I chanced upon the Facebook Page of Star Punjabi Dhaba Indian Restaurant in Cainta while searching Indian restaurants that offers food delivery service in Rizal area where I am currently at. I've checked their virtual menu and decided to get in touch with them to check if they can deliver in my area. I was taking a chance, luckily they told me that they can via Lalamove App. 

I was so thankful thinking that they might have took pity on this girl who was almost begging them to accommodate a delivery request because she was going crazy craving for Indian food. Little did I know, Star Punjabi Dhaba Indian Restaurant was the very same restaurant that went viral recently for giving away free food to literally anyone who's hungry amidst the pandemic. 

In hindsight, I figured it wasn't just pity. The people behind this restaurant have innate kindness in them. The owner who is an Indian nationality I later researched, has a big heart. He fed people for free during the pandemic, and in foreign land at that. Indeed, kindness knows no boundaries.

Chives Bistro & Market Restaurant [Quarantine Eats Series | Home Food Delivery]

Prior to the quarantine, I was able to visit Chives Bistro & Market, one of the many local restaurants in Antipolo City for an early lunch with my parents. I was supposed to blog about my experience last March but I thought it wouldn't make sense because everyone's in quarantine and the possibility of dining out is non-existent.

Then the quarantine loosen its tight grip and local restaurants started offering take out and delivery services. I was able to score a chance to enjoy a hearty lunch at home with Chives sumptuous dishes gracing our table. And although I became two thousand peso poorer, the meal was splendid. I have included Chives in my blog post about the Local Home Food Deliveries I Enjoyed While on Quarantine. 

Then restaurants started opening once again including Chives. So, here we are now.

An Indian Food Feast at Home by Greendot Vegetarian Catering and Food Delivery Service [Quarantine Eats Series | Home Food Delivery]

Beautiful, vibrant, and delicious - these are some of the words on top of my head when thinking about Indian Food. This rich and sophisticatedly spices-laden food is my craving as of late. Good thing here in Metro Manila, we have Greendot Indian Food Catering as one of the trusted Indian food purveyor people can rely on when Indian Food craving hits hard.

Good thing about Greendot Catering is that they do food delivery service, hence you may enjoy an Indian Feast right at the comfort of your own home especially during this time of quarantine. Another good thing, they are vegetarian. And trust me, even if you are not vegetarian like myself, Greendot will still provide you that level of satisfaction only Indian food can provide. India is, up to this day one of the countries I have been wanting to visit if only to experience their beautiful culture and fell more in love with their food. Since our current situation dictates that it might not be happening soon, I am glad that we can still enjoy authentic Indian cuisine, all thanks to food businesses such as Greendot. 

Sugar and Tea Milktea [Quarantine Eats Series | Home Food Delivery]

Nope, we are not yet done sharing milk tea brand discoveries here on the blog despite the bouts of rain we are getting lately, nope. Especially when I haven't shared with you yet a recent milk tea shop which saved the day and made me happy when all other milk tea big names tagged my place as out of coverage for delivery. 

I am talking about Sugar and Tea Milktea. And when in Rizal, specifically Antipolo and upper Angono, this is something you might want to try when trying to curb that milk tea cravings. 

I have mentioned Sugar and Tea Milktea in my previous blog post about the food and drinks which I have tried while we are in the quarantine period. I know most of you my dear readers are crazy about milk tea, so let's go dive deep about this recent discovery. 

Quarantine Eats: Good Food Finds While Supporting Local Food Businesses In Our Community #SupportLocal

So, what have you been eating during this quarantine period? If you have been a longtime reader, you would know for a fact that aside from reviewing good food finds and restaurants in Manila, I also love to cook - I have a YouTube channel for my recipes, to support that claim. Given the quarantine set in the country, one would expect that food bloggers like myself would resort into showcasing our home cooking skills. That will happen, of course, in this blog. But then again, despite the lockdown, there are still good food finds you can have delivered in your home well worth sharing. 

This blog is about that, yes. Most importantly, this blog is about showing support to our local businesses who are fighting their way to thrive in this situation we are in. 

As you may have known, main focus of this blog for the longest time to feature restaurants and hotels in Manila. Since I am currently in my hometown during this lockdown, it is high time to take advantage of the situation and support our local food businesses that we have here by purchasing food from them when kitchen's a bit to hot to deal with. 

FamTea Milk Tea PH: Affordable and Delicious Milk Tea

Pluviophile that I am, I have never loved summer the way I am loving it now. Perhaps because the sun is a constant source of feel-good endorphins that's a big help especially these days when we are in a community quarantine. And you know what's one of the things I love about Summer? Those thirst quenching drinks that's serve as a respite from the heat. Just like milk teas.

I was recently introduced to FamTea Milk Tea and upon knowing their price point of as low as Php50, I was a bit skeptical. But I gave in anyway. And I'm glad I did because FamTea Milk Tea is one of the most delicious yet very very affordable milk teas I have tried. 

While I love variety of milk tea brands, most of which are in my opinion a bit overpriced. Not all people can afford a Php180 serving of milk tea especially in this economic crisis, hence, those affordable but good quality milk teas, I believe should be given highlights.

foodpanda, an on-demand food delivery app in the Philippines, and the City Government of Manila signed  today a partnership Agreement for a project that will provide jobs to the City’s 500 tricycle drivers who were affected by the government’s imposition of the enhanced community quarantine to fight the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Of Adobo and our Frontliners

I was not looking into posting this. Especially not here on my blog. 

"But when you give to someone in need, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing." - that's written on Matthew chapter 6 verse 3 of the bible. It's a cardinal rule to most catholic family like ours, when you give to the needy, do it secretly. 

The photos here were taken while we were preparing food and distributing it to some of our frontliners including those manning the check points we were aiming to feed and extend help to. All of it were taken with my beat-up mobile phone and were meant only for personal consumption - forced of habit because I'm a blogger, also, a remembrance of some sort. 

"Ma'am, baka pwede nyo po i-post sa Facebook, para makita ng iba. Para ma-inspire din po sila magpadala ng tulong. Nabubuhayan po kame ng loob pag nakikita namin na hindi po kame nakakalimutan."  

After hearing those words from one of the frontliners in between spoonfuls of the adobo and rice that my family and I prepared for them, I know I have a promise to keep.

If we go back to six months ago and you'll tell me that I will be where I am right now, I probably wouldn't believe you. But life happens. Six months into corporate life and sometimes, I still can't believe that I veered away from doing what I have been doing for a decade and accepted a more challenging role that requires majority of my time in a day coupled with solid commitment. But I am not complaining. 

I am grateful that I still have the child-like enthusiasm every time I go to work. I am grateful that no matter how challenging things can get, I still find myself looking forward to meeting new batch of trainees I need to handle, making sure they are somehow equipped with knowledge and skills they need to become a well-functioning employees when they get to the grind. I am grateful. 

While work can give sense of fulfilment in my book, it is certainly not a walk in the park. There are still some times when I find myself questioning if I am in the right track. There are still some times when the nagging question why am I doing this to myself haunts me. 

There are times when I feel like nothing makes sense until one employee or two would come up to me and hug me or tap me with such gratefulness because they have finally passed the certification. Those moments are golden. Those moments made me realize that hey, I love this job.

Fuwa Fuwa Bread: Your Delicious Fluffy Snacks On-The-Go

First time I learned about Fuwa Fuwa bread was from my nephews - one is 5 and the other one is 9. Their affinity for bread, I believe they got from me. But kids these days are amazing that most of the time, they beat me into having first dibs on new break products available in the market. Such is the case with Fuwa Fuwa Bread.

You see, I woke up one day and both of them were both making lambing to me to buy them this Fuwa Fuwa loaf bread they had the other day. I don't even what Fuwa Fuwa was until they talked me into bringing them at nearest 711 and there I found what was one of the cutest bread packagings I laid my eyes on. I as sold.

Aside from the packaging, I was drawn into how soft and fluffy the bread was. Fuwa Fuwa by the way means fluffy - how apt. So from then on, we always have Fuwa Fuwa bread at home. The kids love the loaf series which they would smother with their choice of spread and they also love the milk and caramel mini loaf which they would eat with a glass of their favorite chocolate drinks. While I myself is particularly fond of their Whole Wheat Loaf. 

Hap Chan All-You-Can-Eat Shabu-Shabu and Buffet

An evening of intense need to unwind led my friends and I to try out Hap Chan's All-You-Can-Eat Shabu-Shabu at Robinsons Galleria. It was a cold night that could have easily be tamed down with a bowl of ramen but we were a group with big appetite hence, unlimited grub is the way to go. 

So that dinner, we stuffed ourselves silly while beaming with pride basking with the idea that we got our money's worth and then some. Because instead of spending almost 500 bucks for a bowl of hot ramen, we got pots after pots of delicious shabu-shabu made they way we wanted to. 

It wasn't my first brush with Hap Chan Restaurant. I have blogged about one of their branches way back. But it was only recently that I got to try their Unlimited Shabu-shabu offering since not all branches offers it. 

Honey Danji Korean Restaurant, Ortigas Center Pasig City

Rarely do I encounter people who loves Korean food as much as I do - I'm talking about the whole shebang beyond samgyupsal, of coure. But luck is on my side these days that new found friends share the same appreciation. This led me to this tiny Korean restaurant in Ortigas Center Pasig City one afternoon when everyone could ever think of is good servings of food to celebrate an end of work week. 

Welcome to Honey Danji, a small but nonetheless legit Korean restaurant manned by a friendly ahjumma who is more than willing to serve good Korean food to those who are interested enough to indulge.
