Applebee's Philippines recently opened its second branch in Eastwood City. It was only a little while back when Applebee's hit the Philippine restaurant scene when they opened their first ever branch located at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Now they are ready to take on another side of the Metro with their all-American food and then some.

A lively grill and bar experience brought by the recent opening of Applebee's Eastwood is expected to add to the already colorful food scene in the area. Being one of the world's largest casual dining brands, diners can expect nothing less than world-class quality food and service.

It was only recently that I get to visit Eastwood again. Comparing to the time when I was still working for Dell International Services way back, Eastwood has really evolved in terms of dining scene. And I must say that Applebee's is one delightful addition.

Lunch Buffet at The Crescent Moon Cafe and Studio Pottery, Antipolo City

For a long while I've regarded The Crescent Moon Cafe and Studio Pottery as a place where people can get high quality stoneware ceramic plates created by the famous Lanelle Abueva Fernando. I cannot count how many of my friends who are mainly chefs, restaurateur, photographer, and fellow food stylists have I accompanied to Crescent Moon to buy plates they needed since I am from Antipolo. 

And funny how it was only recently that I took a great interest with their restaurant. Mainly because I find reserving for their lunch buffet a bit tricky. Now don't get me wrong, I love Crescent Moon Cafe.

You see, based on my experience, unless you will be reserving for a big group, there really is no guarantee if you will be scoring lunch buffet or if you will be served a set meal. It depends on how many reservation they have for that day. 

Main Street Restaurant in Kapitolyo

Main Street is one of the popular restaurants at McKinley in Taguig that opened a new branch in Kapitolyo, Pasig City. A brainchild of Adam Tan who has an impressive culinary experience in Canada, Main Street offers Canadian grubs and then some at a very reasonable price.

I rarely visit McKinley area so when my cousin Hefty Foodie and good friend Pepe Samson informed me that Main Street has now a branch in Kapitolyo, I gladly accept the invite to join them.

For sure this one is a good news for those who have not tried Main Street yet due to their proximity to the branch in Taguig as well as those who have become a longtime fan who resides in Eastern and Northern part of the Metro. After all, aren't good restaurants supposed to have branches everywhere? I firmly believe in that, and I am rooting for Main Street. 

Annam Noodle Bar, Eastwood Libis

I recently had a diner at Annam Noodle Bar in Eastwood Libis to check out what this newly opened restaurant has to offer. I was under the impression that it was an entirely new concept until I learned that this is actually a Philippine incarnate of Namnam Noodle Bar, a famous Vietnamese restaurant chain in Singapore albeit named differently.

Pho and Bahn Mi are the main dishes that made this restaurant popular to its diners. Having experienced the on-set of rainy season this year, I figured Annam's opening hits a perfect timing.

 

I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a great bowl of Pho since Vietnamese restaurants aren't easy to come by where I live. So this particular visit to Annam was a welcome respite from the usual dinner I get to enjoy these past few months.

The TAPSISHOP in Binangonan Rizal, A Hole-in-the-Wall Diner where KingSilog™ Reigns

It was an unexpected detour, our visit at The TapsiShop in Binangonan Rizal. I rarely go to the area, but after much prodding by some friends and recently my mother who saw an online advertisement of this hole-in-the-wall, I figured why the hell not. After all, KingSilog doesn't sound bad at all and they even have this QueenSeaLog meal to boot. Cute, eh?

I cannot remember the last time I have written about a roadside eatery here on the blog or if I have ever written one for that matter. Perhaps I had, albeit in some other publication, I am not really sure.

So instead of heading back home one day, I decided to finally meet the KingSilog they have all been raving about. After couple of bites of their much lauded Tapa, I sensed a tinge of regret for not having my camera with me because in my mind there was a little voice that says "Damn! This is so going in my blog."

Thank heavens for Smartphone. So, here we are.

Seafood Sunday Brunch Buffet at Spectrum, Fairmont Hotel Makati

Seafood lovers, such as myself shall rejoice as Spectrum of Fairmont Hotel in Makati City curates a Sunday Brunch meant to showcase delightful seafood dishes of wide variety. Spectrum's Seafood Sunday Brunch Buffet which started on June 5 will run up until August of this year only.

I have been to quite a few seafood-themed buffets because I just cannot say no to seafood (Case in point: Remember the book I co-written? Yes, my part of that book was all about seafood. I love seafood so much the Little Mermaid got nothin' on me.) Judging from the variety of seafood dishes laid on the buffet spread at Spectrum - man, they mean serious business, I tell you.

Now, the thing about some seafood-themed buffets I have been to, as I observed, was that they only allocate a portion of their buffet spread to showcase certain numbers of seafood dishes. We are talking about those buffets that changes theme occasionally here and not those which are hardcore seafood buffet restaurants which feature seafood through and through.  

California Pizza Kitchen Pizza Wars 2016

At California Pizza Kitchen, they believe that making pizza is not just a job, it is a passion. CPK is known for creating innovative artisanal pizzas but their passion goes beyond the actual output. They care about the story behind the curated pizzas they are serving, they acknowledge the inspiration behind every creation, and they give importance to the talent that paved way for diners to enjoy high quality pizzas one can only get at California Pizza Kitchen.

With this, an annual pizza-making competition for their in-house chefs called Pizza Wars is conducted to challenge their pizza makers to take their talent and passion to the next level.

This friendly competition went through several rounds of competing and elimination process. The final round which happened last June 14 resulted into a successful event and was graced by esteemed judges namely Archie Rodriguez and Griffith Co (GRCICFO) alongside respected celebrity chefs Sau Del Rosario and Sandy Daza.

I will be writing about the buffet at The Cafe of Hyatt City of Dreams Manila soon because its awesomeness in terms of food quality, service, and price merits its own blog post. For now, this is all about the Cantonese and Indian Food Festival which will be happening at Hyatt - definitely one of the many reasons why you should visit them soon.

Aptly tagged as a Celebration of Two Asian Culinary Traditions, the Cantonese Food Festival and the Indian Food Festival will be happening on June 14 to 19, 2016 and July 14 to 24, 2016 respectively.

This celebration holds the promise of inviting guests and diners at The Cafe to embark on a gustatory journey, a delicious road that leads to China and India. So if you love Cantonese and Indian Cuisines, there is not reason for you to be  missing this especially that the buffet rate at The Cafe of Hyatt is surprisingly affordable.

Shakey's PH Corned Beef Crrrunch Pizza! @ShakeysPH #ChangeTheWay

This afternoon, I got myself Shakey's Corned Beef Crrrunch Pizza via the Shakey's delivery. This newest pizza variant is said to be the Shakey's move to change the way its Guests enjoy corned beef. I learned that it is available for limited time only, from June 3 to August 31, 2016 so I figured I should give it a shot.

I recently renewed my Shakey's Supercard and you know how amazing the perks this awesome card can give to its members so, it was really a perfect time to try the Corned Beef Pizza Crrrunch.

I wouldn't be in Manila for its media launch but since it is Shakey's we are talking about here (Yah know how much I love their thin crust pizza.) I am way too excited to take dibs and share my thoughts on it here on the blog. So here we are.

I have been hearing and reading good reviews about Delimondo Corned Beef for a while now since it was introduced to the market and now that I finally got to try it, I could understand such raves. I could even understand the bold move to use the hashtag The Best Corned Beef in the World, because for firm believers, it really is.

Some of my food blogger friends have been recommending it while those who are not into blogging but still are serious food enthusiasts wonder why I have not given in yet. Little did I know, I have been missing a great deal all this time.

Truth is, I am not really very keen on eating canned goods. So if I found one that suits to my liking, I tend to stick to it when I need something fast and convenient. I have very few favorite corned beef brands, but upon trying Delimondo Corned Beef, it immediately went up on top of my favorite list.

There is no stopping Kumori from creating downright delectable breads and pastries, that's a fact. Now they are into it again as they launched their new product, Kumori Signature Cheese Tart. Remaining true to its tag line, biting into these tarts is like biting into clouds - a cheese flavored one at that.

Kumori is one of the food brands which I have blogged about for a number of times already. Because truth is, I am really a fan and it is always on top of my highly recommended list.

The released of their Signature Cheese Tart only cemented the fact that Kumori has really a special place in my heart. They always make me happy, you guys. And I am sure a lot of fellow fans can relate.

Luisa Ridge Hot Spring Resort and Spa, Pansol Calamba, Laguna

When your folks started enumerating the health benefits of soaking your self into hot spring, Luisa Ridge Hot Spring Resort in Pansol Laguna in this particular case, you cannot really argue with it. So despite easy access to pool back home, you'll take that drive all the way to Laguna because hey, regular pool is no match to hot spring pool, I was told.

But it is not as if there is a tinge of regret lurking somewhere here because truth is, I kind of enjoy this little trip.

There are a lot of hot spring resorts in Laguna area but my father happen to know the Koren business man who acquired this property, so we went for it in support. I heard that it was previously owned by locals before the management revamped but it was a pretty murky story so I am not really sure.

Café Siena, Antipolo City

Siena's Gathering Hall is one of few places in Antipolo City that offers catering services and events place. It has been in the business for ten years now and from that staying power and success sprung forth Café Siena, a little restaurant that serves downright delicious comfort food.

I am always on the lookout for homegrown restaurant here in Antipolo City to fuel my Antipolo Food Trip Blog Series. Yet, such endeavor is not a walk in the park because my knowledge is limited by the fact that I have been away from my hometown for more than a decade.

Thankfully I was introduced to Café Siena via a friend's invite, otherwise, I am certainly missing something awesome. This little nook certainly bagged the top spot on my Best Restaurants in Antipolo list by far.

Let's All Go To Shakey's! #LetsShakeys

When Shakey's Philippines launched its "Let's" campaign which signifies an invite for Guests to keep coming back to their favorite fun, family pizza restaurant, I figured, how very apt. Very timely, and definitely spot on.

It was only recently when I heard my father uttered the words, "Let's all Go To Shakey's" because we all feel the need to bond over good food. And as per usual, Shakey's got us covered.

We are lucky that despite limited restaurants here in our area, we have Shakey's right smack in the heart of Antipolo City town proper. So you could probably imagine how often we hear the enthusiastic "Let's All Go To Shakey's" call when anyone in our family hankers for pizza.

Kuhala Bay Resort, Cardona Rizal

Kuhala Bay Resort located in Cardona Rizal is one of the good options for summer outing destinations if you are in search for resorts near Manila. It offers a nice and quiet place of relaxation with a beautiful view of countryside and Laguna lake. While Cardona is at the easternmost part of Rizal, just a couple of hours drive away from Manila, you will be welcomed with beautiful things that this humble municipality can offer. 

There are myriad of resorts in Rizal province and having its close proximity to Manila as the main selling point, it can be the best bet for people who loves to go on a summer outing but don't have the liberty of time to accommodate long travel hours.

This particular visit at Kuhala Bay Resort happened on a company outing, hence we reserved the entire place to ourselves for the whole day. But during regular days, Kuhala Bay is open for public. There aren't much information about this resort on the web, (no website, Facebook, etc.) so I hope this blog post may help.

Lydia's Lechon Pasig Branch, Now Open!

Lydia's Lechon Restaurant's Pasig branch recently opened their newly relocated store with a notable facelift. Being one of the food brand close to my family's heart, a visit one weekend follow suit to check out the place and enjoy some new dishes on the menu as well as some of the all-time favorites. 

Just a couple of units away from its previous location as it is still housed in the same building, Lydia's Lechon Pasig branch still boasts of great service and food but this time, the ambiance is more welcoming and conducive to a festive meal time.

It was around 10 in the morning when we visited the restaurant - couple of minutes passed its opening for the day. The diners were minimal but after a brief moment, people started coming in - mostly in groups. It goes to show that the charm of Lydia's Lechon to its patrons is still palpable. 

The Nest, Dining in the Sky Restaurant at Vivere Hotel Alabang [Part Three of Staycation Series]

There are many things to be loved about The Nest, the in-house restaurant of Vivere Hotel Alabang. While there are many which I acknowledge, there are few that for me, really stood out. That, I learned during my recent stay at Vivere Hotel one weekend.

The Nest is aptly followed by the tag "Dining in the Sky" because with the view from the 31st floor of the property that comes with the dining experience, it is indeed like dining in the sky.

Indeed the view is great, but it is not exactly the thing that blew me away, no sir. It is not exactly the reason why I would want to go back.

A Peek to the Amenities and Suites at Vivere Hotel Alabang [Part Two of the Staycation Series]

During my recent stay at Vivere Hotel in Alabang, I was able to take a peek of the hotel amenities as well as the other suites of the property. Since it was a weekend, Vivere Hotel is fully booked as there are some events happening but I was lucky that there were some rooms which haven't occupied yet at the time of my viewing.

Great hotel amenities is one of the vital things most of us consider when choosing a hotel. After all, it is always comforting to know that whatever you may need during your R&R will be well provided.

Being a five-star hotel, it is only expected that Vivere Hotel will do well in this league. Based on experience, I could say that they did not disappoint. I however is curious what does the other suites at Vivere Hotel may look like, and I am thankful that such request was granted.

Vivere Hotel and Resorts Alabang is one of the oldest five star hotels in Alabang area that boasts of a grand 31-storey building which houses 200 elegant suites. Tagged as the gen of the Southern part of Metro Manila, it is said to be one of the best places to be when one is traveling for business or for recreational pursuits.

I was hosted by Vivere Hotel one weekend to check out what their property can offer. Their timely invite couldn't be more apt as I am currently scouting for best hotels in Manila for some business clients who will be flying in from the US and Zurich.

There are two things I am loving at McDonald's Philippines right now; first is the new and improved Chicken McDo, and second is McDo PH's "Anong Chicken Ni Joy?" TV Commercial. These two are currently making its presence known in different Social Media channels with the hashtag #chickenmcmcmcdo. 

Rightfully so, since we all know that McDonald's has always been considered as one of the popular food chains here in the country. And to up its game, McDonald's Philippines has once again creates something well worth to be the current talk of the town. 

Fowlbread BGC

The newly opened Fowlbread at BGC is the place you would want to visit if you got some hankering for manly chicken sandwich so good it can be a universe on its own.

And I am not talking about the old as time mayonnaise-laden shredded chicken meat sandwiched in between white bread we used to bring at school for snack hour, nope sir. This one is macho. This is Fowlbread's Chicken Sandwich.

And we cannot expect anything less knowing that this concept is under the umbrella of Tasteless Group - the same kickass peeps behind Hole in the Wall, Le Petit Souffle, and Hanamaruken. So there's that. 

Chelcie's Homemade Spreads: An All Natural, No Preservative Spreads

I was recently introduced to Chelcie's Homemade Spreads, an artisan all natural, no-preservative spreads perfect not just for breads bur for chips as well as for cooking. It also carries a line of tea infuse fruit jams that boasts of interesting flavors that set it apart from the usual.

While spreads in the market are already aplenty, entrepreneur and legit food enthusiast Eunice Uy believes that her recipes for her artisanal spread and fruit jams are something well worth to be put out there for people to enjoy.

I have met Eunice, which second name is Chelcie hence the name of her new business, during the time when I wrote about her restaurant Solace in Makati. I respect Eunice's take on food's flavor profile so I must say that I am confident with these products from the get-go.

Calle Preciousa Seafood Dampa Palutuan, Pasig City

Calle Preciousa Seafood Dampa Palutuan is a restaurant in Pasig City that prided itself with variety of fresh seafood and other dishes in a homey provincial atmosphere. Just like any Dampa style or Palutuan restaurants, diners may choose from Calle Preciousa's seafood selections they tagged as their very own "wet market" and have it cooked to their liking. 

Calle Preciousa is not really new in the business. They used to be called Sophia's Villa until it faced a revamped. This family owned business aims to stay true to its tradition of serving fresh food made from scratch. 

I visited Calle Preciousa recently for a quick lunch and to check out some of their offerings. There are several popular fastfood chains within the area but the ample and really impressive parking space of Calle Preciousa - which other restaurants in the vicinity lack was a clear indication that it is a good time to check this one out.

Seven Comfort Cuisine Manila Healthy Party Food Trays

I was recently introduced to SEVEN Comfort Cuisine, a new food business in Manila that offers food party trays perfect for potlucks, parties, and even for those days when one cannot muster the energy nor the means to cook. They take pride in having healthy and delicious food choices that can be delivered right at the comfort of your home or through an arranged pick up.

I had a simple get together with some friends where we spent an afternoon binge-watching American TV series recently and I figured it is the best time to try out offerings at Seven Comfort Cuisine. Yes, instead of slaving away in the kitchen, Seven Comfort Cuisine saved the day.

As a start-up food business, Seven Comfort Cuisine’s menu is still rather limited. But it they do have decent number of choices that ranges from pork, beef, chicken, seafood, pasta, vegies, and appetizers. 

New Rustic Bread Variants & Best Selling Pastries at Kumori PH

I have always been a fan of Kumori and I am sure many would nod in agreement that biting into their pastries, breads, and cakes made with freshest ingredients is indeed like biting into clouds. The opening of the first Café Kumori at SM North Edsa that follows the success of Kumori counters in SM Makati and Landmark is a clear indication that since its opening, Kumori is on top of its game. And guess what, they will soon be opening their fourth Kumori PH branch at UP Town Center. 

While I have yet to visit and check out Café Kumori to share my experience here on the blog, I am happy to share with you now some of the new rustic bread offerings at Kumori.

Rustic bread – just the sound of it is enough to make a bread lover like myself get giddy with excitement. And since it is made by Kumori, the expectation is all the more higher. Now I am telling you from the get-go that they did not disappoint.

Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot by Vikings or the entire Vikings Group is not just known as the best buffets in Manila. I have written about Nostalgia before and even enjoyed a weekend staycation at Oakwood, and I must say that theirs are one of the hotel restaurants which quality of food I am always confident about. The lunch we had to check out these amazing French dishes only proved that Nostalgia is still on top of its game.

Food Trip at Robinsons Place Antipolo [World Food Tour Without Passport]

Over the weekend, I was invited to join a Bloggers Food Trip wherein we visited different restaurants at Robinsons Place Antipolo.  If you have poked around my blog a bit, you would know that I am currently doing my Antipolo Food Trip Blog Series in which I feature those I deem as the best restaurants in Antipolo City.

With that in mind, I am grateful and humbled to be part of the bloggers’ activity at Robinsons Antipolo because truth be told, some of the best places to eat when in Antipolo is housed within the confines of this amazing mall. A lot has been said and written online about Robinsons Place Antipolo since it opened its door to the public. For someone who resides in the Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines - upper and rather secluded Antipolo area if I might add - Robinsons Antipolo is a prayer answered. We do not have much big malls around here, thanks to Robinsons Malls for providing us that.
